PI VERSION: 10 (suitable for other versions

LEVEL: Intermediate

MAIN TOOLS: Path Drawing Tool, paintbrush, texture

DOWNLOADS: None.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Open new white canvas 500Wx350H.

  2. Flood fill your canvas with your darker color - I used red.

  3. Path Drawing Tool - rectangle - color white - 2d - draw a rectangle just smaller than your original canvas so it looks like you have a red border. Align, center both. Deselect.

  4. Path Drawing Tool - 2d - square - any color you want - draw a shape on your canvas approx 110 x 110.

  5. Right click on square and duplicate it twice. Select all squares, right click, aligh top. Then right click, align, space evenly. horizontally. Right click and merge as single object.

  6. Now click on your squares and right click duplicate. Change the color to a darker red or whatever color you are using. Move the darker squares slightly over and up.

  7. I added a shadow to both sets of squares. Right click on bottom squares and pick shadow. I used number 2 for the top two choices using the first option. Then click on your top squares and do the same.

  8. Path Drawing Tool - shape - custom - heart -color your lighter one - draw a heart approximately 70 x 80. Place in center of the first square, then duplicate it twice and place in the other two squares.Select all three hearts, right click align top, right click align, space evenly horizontally.

  9. Now you can add any designs you want to your hearts. I used the line and arrow tool and drew some squigglys for the first and last heart, then used the clover shape and put a bunch in the middle heart. I also added shadows to all of these.

  10. Text tool - I used a pay font I own, so just any pretty script font will work. Check border and use 1, size 32, depending on your font, color - the lighter color and the border the darker color. Type your text, move it, right click align, center horizintally. And put a shadow on it the same as you have used before.

  11. At this point, I selected all objects, merge as a single object. Now all you have to do is place some different shape hearts around the test, in both of your colors to make it a little more snazzy!.

  12. If you want a background like mine, I used paintbrush, size 150, transparency 50, soft edge 50, my lighter color, and texture, select texture, I used the paper 49 one and lightly go back and forth over your card. I did it two different ways. One I did the background first so it would not cover my squares, and the second one I did the background last, then brought forward the hearts in the boxes so they were not covered. There you have it!! Feel free to use all different kinds of designs for different kinds of looks!

HAVE FUN!!! - YOU'RE DONE!!! I hope you enjoyed this tut!
