Must complete tutorial by Dawn if wanting to use a "brush"
from your picture and convert the color. This tut is located at:
http://www.creationsbydawn.net/pi/tutorials/newbrush-tut.html or you can
just use a black and white clipart picture.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Open new white canvas 500Wx600H. Go to your layer manager and right click, duplicate this layer. Now go back and highlight the first layer and add a texture if so desired. Now go back to your top layer and click on the bucket fill tool and choose linear gradient. Go up to your bar on fill method and choose multiple-color and on fill colors, click and choose #46. Keep selected.
- I then applied a texture to my gradient page. Use what you like. I used Fantastic Machines plugin, preset sponge.
- Okay, now you are going to grab your eraser, shape circle, size 15, soft edge 0, and kind of make a jagged line across your gradient about 3/4's way down. See example. Now increase your eraser to size 100 or so and finish erasing the bottom of the page so you just have the top half in gradient. Right click, shadow, first box, x-offset 6, y-offset 3. Do not deselect.
- Now if you have your picture prepared, or have your "brush" prepared using Dawn's tut, you are ready to add it. If using a black and white clip art, size accordingly, place it on the gradient a little to the right and right click, properties, and choose luminosity for the blend method. This will blend in your white background if you have one so it is not noticable on your gradient so much. If you have done the tut,
grab your paintbrush, click on mode, paint as object and on your tool settings, choose the texture tab, click on the folder and scroll until you find your brush texture you made. Choose what color you want, I chose white, soft edge 0, and I selected a brush size 50, depending on your picture. Brush away into the spot you want the image. See example. Click off of paint on object mode, grab your pick tool and move your pic over in place. I then added the same drop shadow as previously to this.
- Now we are going to add the easter eggs and grass. Grab the file you downloaded, open the file up in PI and resize to around 25%, clicking on selected object. Now grab it with your pick tool and pull over onto your picture. Place in bottom right hand corner. Right click and shadow, I used same as above, except choosing the second box. Now, right click and duplicate this, use transform tool and flip horizontally, resize a little smaller and move along side the first one. Deselect. See example.
- Now we are ready to add the text. I used Arial, size 70, 2d object. It doesn't really matter about the font, because that is going to change when we apply text type. Unless you want to use an elegant font and not apply any effects. This is totally up to you. Type Happy Easter, or any other sentiment you want, use your transform tool and rotate left 90 degrees. Place your text on the left hand side, and using the transform tool, sretch it out a little more, then right click, align, center vertically.
- Go to your EP and choose Type Gallery, Glass, Glass #2. Right click on this for modify properties, and choose a color you like from your creation. Click ok. Right click, same drop shadow as before, box 1, but choose 5 for soft edge. Deselect. Now except for the frame you are done. You can right click and choose merge all. I added a couple of butterflies from the EP, resizing and adjusting hue and saturation. This is entirely up to you.
- Okay, now if you want a frame, I went up to Photo, PhotoFrame, click on frame, style - magic frame, effect - glassy, change outer and inner edge to 10. Click on one color and choose color you want. I chose white. Then towards the bottom, click on canvas, options, and choose a color, I chose pink. Click ok and that's it.
- The last example shows using a black and white picture.
